I’m not in the market to buy a car right now, but I will be in 7-12 months after I graduate college. I have the 02, don’t plan on selling it and want a reliable car. I would go for an e30, but I don’t need to. I will just end up having 2 project cars. So, I went in search of VW Jettas, but this CC popped up with a comparable price. It’s a handsome car and can’t imagine it is much more expensive to work on than any other VW. What do you guys think?

I think if I were going to get one of those, I would just go ahead and get the Mercedes that the car is copied from instead.

Miles are already on the high side, could become expensive soon but it could also be fine. Does look like a nice car.

Drove one extensively (2011 model). Comfortable, smooth and quiet. Turnoffs:
iOS-centric mobile device support
Nav (it had it)
Rear head room
It was beige
Seats were a tad stiff for our liking
Cross-shopped with a Volvo S40 T5 R-Design, the Volvo won our competition.

They are slightly more money because they will be newer, but have you considered the regal turbo with a manual ? Not the GS, just the lower spec turbo. It’s using a detuned ecotec turbo so it is pretty overbuilt for the more modest output and it’s a bit more unique. Still a little German though but hopefully not too German so the electrics fry out on it.

They look neat, and have nice interiors. The 2.0T drinks oil at a startling rate, and is prone to coolant leaks from its plastic thermostat and water pump housings, but isn’t prone to major mechanical failures in my experience. The manual should be pretty trouble free, as are the DSG transmissions, though the DSG requires a $300+ service every 40k. I could list other stuff I’ve seen, but there’s nothing I’d really call common. An extended warranty from a good company would be a good idea though, just in case.

Yes. All 3 are a bad idea.

Yeah, likely a bad idea. Not much more expensive than any other VW, which is already too high! You should consider the Accord coupe.

I haven’t driven the CC much, but I’ve driven the wagon version of the Passat that it’s based on quite a bit.
The interior is astoundingly nice for what it cost new
The 2.0T is decently quick
I didn’t drive a stick, but the DSG is a good box
Very nice body control, even on the Passat - I’d imagine that the CC is even a bit sportier
It’ll chirp the fronts off the line pretty easily
Incidentally, I’m also about to graduate and am looking for something fun. The CC and Passat wagons have both come up on my radar. I have some other ideas too, but they’re definitely impractical.

Like the styling of the VW. My mom drove the v6 Accord coupe. Nice car, but eh. Like the VWs. For practicality and real reasons, not the stancelyfe and other VW stupid stuff.

“Reliable daily driver”
>25 year old BMW
>VW Passat CC
>Jetta
Literally none of those fit the criteria.
